National Law Enforcement Memorial Washington DC
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial honors all of America's federal, state, and local law enforcement officials. On the Memorial's marble walls are the names of 17,500 officers killed in the line of duty--dating back to 1792. Two tree-lined arcades border the park. It was designed by architect Davis Buckley. Each year a candlelight vigil is held during National Police Week in May. The event adds new names of fallen officers the walls.
