National Zoo
No surprise here. One of the most kid-friendly spots to check out in Washington, DC is the National Zoo. Set inside the Rock Creek National Park, the zoo has more than 2000 individual animals of nearly 400 different species of animals. Admission is free.

The bureau has a 40-minute tour where you and the youngin's can see millions of dollars being printed. Tour features include currency production, beginning with large, blank sheets of paper, and ending with wallet-ready bills. Admission is free.
Washington Monument
Take your kids up the elevator to the top of the memorial to George Washington for the most spectacular view of the city.
Glen Echo Park
Just across the DC border in Bethesda, Maryland, Glen Echo holds year-round shows and concerts in dance, theater, and the arts. Activities for kids include puppet shows, children's theater, exploring nature, making crafts, romping in the playground--and riding the famous Dentzel Carousel.
